[discussion] “Self taught” guitarists that eventually took lessons, what was your journey/progression like?

I’ve been playing guitar for almost 15 years now. I’m your typical metalhead dude that learned from ultimate guitar and learning my favorite bands songs. I’ve definitely learned a lot from it. But I obviously don’t have any actual “music knowledge”. I don’t know modes, scales, keys, anything like that. I’m looking into an instructor to start within the next week or two. I’m not asking if lessons are worth it. Because I know they are. Im just curious to see how much your playing changed if you were in roughly the same boat as me. Please feel free to share your experience!
