[discussion] will playing scales along to a metronome actually make you better ? Or just make your playing robotic

I already know a lot of scales and modes so I wouldn’t be getting theory knowledge from it, I’ve heard some people say playing scales along to a metronome for hours is what made increased their sense of rhythm and endurance and precision, while other people say it makes your playing robotic or scale like and it’s not how you learn to really play, what do you think ?
