Former guitarist Doug Aldrich, who has played with bands like **DIO**, **WHITESNAKE**, and **THE DEAD DAISIES**, has been diagnosed with treatable throat cancer. Despite the diagnosis, Aldrich underwent successful surgery on September 27, 2024, according to his wife Daniela “Danni” Aldrich, who shared an update on her personal Facebook page. The surgery lasted five hours and was described as incredibly successful, with Aldrich showing remarkable strength and determination throughout the procedure.
As a result of his surgery, Aldrich will not be able to participate in **THE DEAD DAISIES**’ upcoming European tour. He will be temporarily replaced by Reb Beach, a guitarist known for his work with **WHITESNAKE** and **WINGER**. The band expressed their support for Aldrich, wishing him a speedy recovery and thanking fans for their outpouring of support.
Aldrich has a long history in the music industry, having played with various bands including **LION**, **HOUSE OF LORDS**, and **Glenn Hughes**. He joined **THE DEAD DAISIES** in 2016 and has been a key member of the band, contributing to their last five albums: “Make Some Noise” (2016), “Burn It Down” (2018), “Holy Ground” (2021), “Radiance” (2022), and “Light ‘Em Up” (2024).
