[DISCUSSION] All Hail the Telecaster

My guitar career has been a battle between the urge to fiddle/fuss and actually playing the damn thing.

I started off with a Stratocaster but the control locations kept getting in the way and I wasn’t a fan of the distorted sounds so I traded for a Les Paul. The controls were great and I wasn’t fussing anymore but it was so dark and had a hard time cutting through the mix. It also didn’t stay in tune well and the clean sounds were so anemic.

I decided to try a Squire Affinity Telecaster since it was so cheap and I’m blown away. If you see the guitar as a tool then this is for you.

It sounds great clean and distorted. The bridge pickup sounds like a mini humbucker and doesn’t make too much noise with high gain.

It keeps tuning better than any guitar. I’m borrowing some guitars from a friend that no longer plays and this thing will keep tune through an entire gig while the stray and les Paul barely make it through a song.

Finally, the control and pickup layout is so spacious that it never gets in the way.

Using a blues deluxe, headrush MX5 and my tele I finally have a no fuss setup that keeps me playing guitar.

Does anyone agree, disagree? What is your no fuss guitar?
