Please excuse my complete newb question, but I have only just started to learn guitar/music theory. In the song “Your decision” by Alice in Chains, there is no E minor chord played, but an E major chord is played with all other chords in the key of E minor. The solo in the song is also in the E minor pentatonic scale. From what I’ve learned with chord theory, an E major chord does not belong in the key of E minor. I have seen this same thing, only with E major in an E minor key in some jam tracks too. Can someone please explain what’s going on and why this is outside the laws of musical theory. Thanks!
Edit: Great responses. Thanks everyone!
