[NEWBIE] for y’all gigging musicians, do you actually count “1-2-3-4” (or whatever the time signature is) in your head while playing?

I can play some riffs but I do it mostly by feel and trying to match the riffs. But are you actually counting or do you just do that while practicing and/or learning new songs and get to the point where you’re doing it by feel?

Also, with the twelve bar blues, do you have to count the bars, while also counting the timing?
