[PLAY] Extending the range of a guitar using a slide

I saw a blues show this weekend, and the lead player did something I’d never seen. He was playing down on the neck with a glass slide, and went all the way down, almost to the bridge pickup. It seemed like he picked up a full octave doing that. Normal range on an electric is E2 – E6, more or less, but he really left that way behind.

Cool technique I’d never seen or thought about.
