[Question] Am I doing this improv thing right?

For the past few weeks I have had soooo much trouble trying to play my scales without sounding like I’m playing a scale. I’m trying to focus on hitting my chord tones. For context, my instructor gave me a challenge to write a melody or solo after I learned my C major scale. Am I doing this properly?
