[QUESTION] Do you pick a guitar based on sound or comfort?

I’ve played guitar for a while, and I’ve slowly come to the realization, I enjoy playing, but not necessarily the particular ‘tonal qualities’ of my current guitars, if that makes sense. Depending on the effect sometimes I enjoy how it sounds, but usually not really.

And that made me more curious to know how other players, of a variety of skill levels, how they find a guitar that they enjoy. Sometimes when I’m scrounging around on youtube for particular guitars, since I’m not very good I like to listen to how better players play the guitar and sort of understand what I can expect to get out of it tone wise. I find some guitars, no matter who’s playing it, I don’t really like it even if I like how they play it. On the other hand when I heard someone play a certain guitar, it didn’t matter who picked it up, I just really loved it. So yeah, do people particularly enjoy their guitar’s tones? Do they find some just more comfortable? Or is it more like a tool where you find the specific tone for a track but you might not generally like how the guitar sounds all the time?
