I haven’t seen many people do this, but I would want to try it. I love low tunings and I want something that’ll match the frequency range for my bass, while having some higher range still so I can play bass an octave underneath occasionally.
I like eight strings, but I find 7’s to be much more manageable, and I’m looking for a “riff-stick” here (I’m not a shredder), so I don’t really want those higher strings.
I would want it tuned like E-B-E-A-D-G-B, and I would keep my five string bass in B-E-B-E-A.
I know that I would need to go much higher on string gauge, and It would need to be set up for this specific tuning. Are there any problems I should look out for?
I’m looking specifically at the ESP LTD H31007, do any of you guys have experience with this one? Would a Multi-Scale work better for this kind of thing, and if so, are there any multiscale baritone 7’s out there?
