[Question] recording DI vs micing up the amp?

Hey guys, I have been getting into recording myself playing recently. Was wondering what your preferences are with recording direct vs micing up the amp? I bought a mic a few weeks back just for recording vocals but most YouTube videos I watch guitarists are using their mics to record the amp sounds. Any insight on which is superior? I will say I love playing with a ton of reverb, mostly clean tones with just a touch of distortion. My amp is a Vox AC15C1, a Shure MV7x mic, and to record direct I always just use my focus rite 2i2.
