I play electric and I’m trying to master this instrument, but I don’t want to waste money on things I can’t learn at home. Is there anything you recommend I should master before paying a teacher? All I do is play songs, but I don’t understand how the music is being made. I want to learn music theory and understand how chords are formed, if that makes sense. Currently, I know all the notes on the fretboard and all the basic chords. I can also play any intermediate-level song. However, all I’ve been doing is reading tabs and memorizing songs, but I don’t feel like I’m improving.
