I’ve been playing Guitar for a month now. Before that, I was playing Bass. But it always felt like something was missing.
Whenever I was improvising, I’d always play the same stuff. I felt like I was just going up and down the scale and I wasn’t really “feeling” what I was playing.
I just learnt about Guitar Phrasing. Basically, I should be trying to “talk” with my instrument. When we talk, we usually think about what we wanna say. We don’t talk nonstop because we have to breath. We have our own style of speaking.
It’s the same with music. You should be trying to talk with your instrument. Think about what you wanna say.
This has completely changed my approach to improvising. I’ve started improvising with my own backing tracks I made on a DAW.
