Hey. I’m a pretty experienced player since I’ve been playing for around 7 years – I’m pretty good at actually playing the instrument and I know how to play some pretty difficult songs from the math rock genre. However, I basically don’t know any theory. I maybe know what 5 of the basic chords are called, but I can’t read sheet music, I don’t know any scales, etc. The way I taught myself was just through videos or tabs and like I said, I think I’m a pretty solid player but I would really like to step up my theory game. I want to be able to improvise a little bit, play by ear or come up with my own jazzy chord progressions. What is a good way I could learn theory as someone who is pretty good at the technical aspect already? I don’t want to completely bore myself.
Cheers!
