While I’ve been playing the guitar (acoustic) on and off for about 10 years, I’ve taken long breaks in between and the last formal training I had was back in 2016. I’m in a weird place where I can play all the basic major chords, most minor chords and some barre chords (although I fail to name more than a couple, and I don’t actually understand the theory behind them). I can play almost all the songs that use open chords and I can play some classic leads and solos, but I’m bad at singing while playing. I can play the sa re ga ma (In India, we use these notes instead of the western do re mi) on any part of the fretboard, but I don’t know the theoretical significance of other scales or other types of scales.
I feel like I haven’t progressed significantly beyond what I had learned in high school. What can I learn next so as to strengthen my fundamentals and get on a new level?
