[Question][New] Guitar for the curious?

So lately, I’ve been considering taking up the guitar, but the sheer amount of options and information out there is kind of intimidating.

Can anyone suggest a good guitar to start out with?

The budget is about $500 but can go higher if that helps at all.

Edit: Leaning towards acoustic, and the budget is for the guitar specifically
